Sir Bruce is one of the United Kingdom’s leading medics and currently serves as Chair of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. Sir Bruce concluded 10 years of service as NHS England’s National Medical Director where he oversaw the leadership, quality and innovation of healthcare throughout the U.K. Prior to running the NHS, Sir Bruce enjoyed a distinguished career as a cardiac surgeon, working as a consultant cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust before becoming Director of Surgery at the Heart Hospital and Professor of Cardiac Surgery at University College London. Additionally, as the program’s founder, Sir Bruce has deep relationships with member companies of the NHS Innovation Accelerator program. For his extensive contributions to medicine in the U.K., Sir Bruce was appointed as an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 2003.
